We could have been
the way winter
kisses spring
and makes a leap
towards summer
days.

Instead, we were
simple
autumn leaves
that didn't know
when
it was really
time
to leave.

Have you ever felt like you had something great? Something wonderful, and you thought you would've lasted long with it? Instead, it never went as planned and it never went the way you thought it would or could. So, you were ultimately left with pieces of something that could've been magical, but didn't make the cut. And you don't really know what to do with that.

I call it looking at something way past its expiration date, and expecting it to still do what it was meant to do.
You hope, but sometimes, moments pass and it's a little too late to say it'll be okay.
