"Not What You Think"

Let’s talk about the girl
with broken bones
and no skin
on her body
without miles of scars
running races across
her healing tissues.

She has no
broken dreams.

This is a poem to show empowerment. It is supposed to tell a story of someone who has been through a lot, but even still, she managed and she survived. Still, even more than just surviving, she lived.

I think that's what's supposed to make this poem beautiful. That is why I wrote it.

I always love the "plot twisting" ideas, after all. Hah.
